dc.description.abstractThis study aims to assess self cultural understanding of the EFL students at Ibn Khaldoun university of Tiaret. The study involved 29 EFL students who were asked to answer 14 questions related to cultural awareness and knowledge within the context of their own culture. The findings revealed that the participants’ understanding of their own culture is not high, and they have a moderate level of intracultural communication abilities. Based on this finding, the study recommends that EFL learners should increase their understanding about their own culture so to develop their intercultural competenceen_US
