Titre: Redefining Algerian Middle School EFL Teachers’ Roles in the AI Era: Adaptations, Practices, and Challenges
Auteur(s): Meguenni, Anfel; Saibi, Bilal
Résumé: This study investigates the evolving roles of Algerian middle school EFL teachers in light of the growing integration of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in education. A mixed-methods approach was adopted combining questionnaires, follow-up interviews, and classroom observations to gather data from a diverse sample of English teachers varying in region, age, teaching experience, and familiarity with AI tools. The research results and findings confirm that AI is reshaping teaching roles, shifting teachers from traditional knowledge providers to moderators and guides, and highlight major challenges such as large class sizes, limited access to digital tools, and inadequate teacher training. Nevertheless, many teachers showed interest in adopting AI and reported using it in areas like lesson planning and feedback. Additionally, successful AI integration requires targeted professional development, supportive institutional policies, and improved infrastructure. Effective use of AI in Algerian EFL classrooms depends not only on the availability of technology but also on empowering teachers through sustained training and systemic support

Titre: THE DYNDYNAMICS OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE CHANGE FROM THE 17TH TO THE 18TH CENTURIES TROUGH SHORT STORIES WILLAIM SHAKESPEARE HAMLET AND THE CASTLE OF OTRANTO BY HORACE WALPOLE
Auteur(s): DAOUDI, Amal; BERRABAH, Amina
Résumé: This research aims to trace and compare the dynamics of the English language change during the 17th and 18th centuries. The focus is placed on spelling and vocabulary changes, using two literary texts—Hamlet by William Shakespeare and Otranto by Horace Walpole. Due to the huge development of English language influenced by historical, cultural, and social
factors, it became necessary to examine how these transformations are represented in literature. To attain this goal, a word comparison method was implemented, analyzing selected words from both stories to identify the distinctions at the level of form and usage. The chosen works represent two different linguistic periods of time and provide a clear contrast in words spelling and lexical choices. The changes in vocabulary and spelling reflect a gradual enrichment towards standardization and an increase in lexical variety. However, the study encountered challenges in maintaining consistent word lists due to differences in editions. Regardless, the research enhances our understanding of the evolution of the English language and paves the way for additional studies that examine literary texts as historical linguistic evidence.

Linguistic Dynamics in Algerian media: the Diglossic Interaction between Algerian Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic the case study of khalouna positive

Titre: Linguistic Dynamics in Algerian media: the Diglossic Interaction between Algerian Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic the case study of khalouna positive
Auteur(s): LABIOD, Ahlem; MEHENNI, Hadjira
Résumé: This study investigates the linguistic dynamics in Algerian media, focusing specifically
on the TV show ‘Khalouna Positive’ through the framework of diglossia. It studies the
coexistence and functional distribution of Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) as the High
variety and Algerian Arabic (AA) as the Low variety. A mixed-method approach is
employed: qualitative content analysis of selected episodes highlights instances of
diglossia and code-switching, while a questionnaire gathers viewers’ attitudes towards
language use. The findings reveal a clear functional separation between MSA and AA,
with frequent occurrences of code-switching. Respondents express a preference for
using AA in entertainment contexts, while MSA is maintained as the preferred language
in formal situations. The results provide valuable insights into language practices in
Algerian media and suggest potential directions for future research. This study enhances
a broader understanding of language ideology in multilingual societies and emphasizes
the media's role in reflecting and shaping linguistic norms in contemporary Algeria.
